Mgr. David Doubek Ph.D., performing under the pseudonym Ventolin, is a Czech musician and DJ focusing on electronic music. He was previously a member of the post-punk band Kazety. In 2016, he released a collaborative album in Poland with the duo RSS B0YS, and in September 2017, he released his breakthrough solo album Vitajte. In 2018, he famously appeared in a special episode of the popular Czech TV game show AZ-kvíz, where he faced off against rapper James Cole.
Doubek studied education and cultural anthropology. As a member of the Prague School Ethnography Group, he participated in a longitudinal study of Czech schools from 1995 to 2004, focusing on teacher-student communication, peer relationships, identity development, and career choices.
Currently, he is conducting field research on attitudes toward education in socially excluded localities in the western Bohemian borderlands. All of his research is anthropologically grounded, emphasizing qualitative methodology, textual analysis, and direct, long-term fieldwork. Since 2002, he has been teaching at the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Education, Charles University.
