Raego is an independent Czech musician who reached the 200 million plays mark on YouTube without a record label.
His phenomenal story describes the past of a 130kg outsider who has been through bullying, poverty and struggles with his appearance. In his youth, he hosted concerts for rap stars, where he took on the role of MC and performer at freestyle battles. In 2007, he won first place in freestyle rap at the Hip Hop Jam festival, where American rapper The Game was the headliner. He has also worked as a presenter on Óčko TV and on radio. He led the T-Music chart five times with the song Ty a Já (You and Me), which surpassed 23 million views.
Raego’s story was the subject of an episode of a Czech TV show and subsequently a book. He is also one of the few celebrities to have the honour of presenting a TED talk twice (TEDxPrague 2013, TEDxYouth 2019). In 2021, he was nominated for the Český slavík Award, where he won bronze in the Hip Hop/Rap category. His strong online community counts over 300,000 YouTube viewers per month.
Raego has parlayed his international experience into collaborations with Grammy Award-winning artist Bizzy Bono on the track Misery, and as an opening act for international stars such as Methodman and Kesha. In his own words, his music is all about healing and connecting.
