Jan Steinsdörfer is a composer, music producer and now a member of the band Chinaski. With his jazz trio, he won the international music competition Czech Jazz Contest in 2013 and a year later he took second place at the solo jazz piano competition in Freiburg, Germany. Between 2009 and 2018 he managed Ewa Farne’s backing band. In 2014 he recorded with the band Android Asteroid at Abbey Road Studios. He co-wrote the song Friend of a Friend by Lake Malawi, which placed 11th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. He also composes music for international commercials. Since 2019, he has been arranging and producing for swing singer Jan Smigmator, whom he accompanied with Tony Bennett’s band at Carnegie Hall in New York in the spring of 2023. In the past he has collaborated with Tomas Klus, Vladimir Misik, Pokáč, Xindl X, Lenny, Karel Gott, Michal Pavlíček, Michal Horáček, Mel C, Mirai and Vesna. He is also the author of the publication “Keyboardist’s Guide – from practice to stage”, which prepares young musicians for their musical journey.
